Ofsted has been going for what? 30 or so years?
We all agree then that after all of their hundreds of thousands of inspections and £ billions spent on inspections and the hounding of staff who are not identikit teachers, the standard of our schools is now much improved?
Even if we think that things have improved. I am not sure that we are comparing like with like. My primary school was just over 100 pupils. There were 5 teachers (3 male, two female) and two dinner ladies.
My daughter’s primary school has just over 100 pupils. I saw the staff photo on the wall one day and counted 51 staff. Each class had a teaching assistant, also there was a SENCO – Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator – (and assistant teaching assistants), four dinner staff etc, etc.
Oh yes. 47 of them in the photo were female and just four were male.
